IN MEMORIAM and LOVING MEMORY of Ana-Karina Schneider, Associate Professor, Dr. Habil.
On Wednesday, 18 September, English Studies lost one of its foremost scholars, Ana-Karina Schneider, our distinguished Editor-in-Chief.
Ana-Karina Schneider was a leading English and American Studies scholar and Associate Professor at Lucian Blaga University in Sibiu, specializing in British and American literature, literary criticism and literary-critical theory, and a Faulkner exegete. Her academic career spanned over two decades, during which she made outstanding contributions to these fields, both through teaching and research.
Her key publications include the monographs “Critical Perspectives in the Late Twentieth Century: William Faulkner: A Case Study” and “Studies in the Rhetoric of Fiction”. She also wrote extensively on William Faulkner’s works, modern and contemporary English prose fiction, and literary translation. Notably, she was Editor-in-Chief of American, British and Canadian Studies, a journal she guided for over 15 years, enhancing its reputation in literary scholarship.
Ana-Karina was a great mentor, deeply committed to her students, whom she constantly inspired and empowered. For the love of her students, she founded the Chocolate House book club in 2001 to promote reading and debate among young scholars. Her teaching expertise covered a broad range of English literature, from the seventeenth century to contemporary works, with a particular focus on American writers and critical theory.
Beyond the Academia, she was a member of the Academic Anglophone Society of Romania and contributed to various literary encyclopedias and academic reviews. Her sudden passing in 2024 left a deep void in both the Romanian and international literary community.
Beloved colleague and friend, HEARTFELT THANKS for your utmost dedication, selflessness, for the numerous years of strenuous, hard work, for all the effort you put into the growth of the journal. Your acumen, finess, and gentle touch, the unique sparkle in your editorial eye, will always be remembered. MAY YOU REST IN PEACE.
